Avalon State Park from Fort Pierce, FL

This is a great free state park after the miles of beach stealing condominiums finally end (the ones actually ON the beach anyways).... soon there will be very few "untouched" beaches left... the water at Avalon State Park is usually clear, and there is little, if any, seaweed to contend with. The wave action is on the low side but sometimes you get lucky - its better for boogie boarding than surfing most of the time.

I would like you to check out the water quality in Rockport, MA and Gloucester area beaches if you could. I am concerned about protecting and monitering the water quality in my home town, and feel that the lack of information and posting about beach water quality has a lot to do with revenue from tourism and little to do with public safety and environmental stewardship. P.S. it's a small town, don't tell 'em, I said that! but please let us know how our beaches are doing. Thanks! Kim
